Animals4's GIMP Userbar Tutorial
Step 1: Make a new document 350x19
Step 2: Choose your FG and BG colors. Select the Gradient Tool. And drag it across the image.
Step 3: Make a new layer (Layers>>New Layer) and make sure it's transparent. Now add your scanlines using the bucket fill tool go to Pattern and go to Fill Whole Section and Fill the userbar with the scanlines
Step 4: Make a new layer (Layers>>New Layer) and make sure it's transparent. Now select the Ellipse Select Tool. Now make ellipse an From the top corners to the middle of the userbar. Now select the bucket fill tool and fill the selected area with white. Click (Select>>None) to make the lines go away.
Step 5: Press Ctrl+L Select the Ellipse layer and set the Opacity to anywhere between 20 and 50
Step 6: Make a new layer and place your render
Step 7: Make a new layer and place your text set the color to white (8 or 10 pt). There is a certain kind of text you need which you can get here. Select Visitor TT1 BRK when installed.
Step 8: Press Ctrl+L select the scanline layer and set the opacity anywhere between 20-50
Step 9: Add a 1 px border to the text
Step 10: Add a 1 px border to the userbar. And Finished!
